Semi-Annual Update
Here we are the sixth month of the year! Can you believe it?!? When I stop to think about it I'm kind of shocked at how fast this year is going. There have been tons of things going on in my life. And by tons I mean, a few things that I thought I would try. The first things being ironing.
1. Ironing- I can remember the first time I ever ironed. I was about five years old and my brother, sister and cousins were staying with my aunt for a few weeks during the summer. My clothes from my suitcase were wrinkled and she taught me how to iron my clothes. flash forward about 20 years and I am ironing! It's truly strange because I've never realized how soothing ironing could be. I can iron and work out things in my mind or watch television and feel totally and completely relaxed. It's great. DISCLAIMER: this sudden interest in ironing is due, in large part, to a co-worker mentioning how she irons her husbands shirts for work.
2. Sewing-I first took sewing in sixth grade. I was not (and am not) great at it. But after looking at photos of a friend sewing a dress, I had been wanting to sew. And then two nights ago, I took thread, needle and old t-shirt and created this:
I took some trial and error but I eventually remembered how to do it. I'm hoping to learn how to do more intricate projects. However, I am pleased as punch at my little pillow! :)
3. Baking-I love food. I just do! It tastes so good and I feel really relaxed and peaceful when I cook or bake. Which, I'm not so great at baking. Like, I can bake chicken or things like that but when it comes to deserts, I'm not spectacular. But I've been trying my hand at baking casseroles some various sweet treats and it has been a blast.
4. Interning- I have recently started a volunteer internship in social media. I am so excited about this position! Even though I haven't done a whole bunch yet, I am already having a blast.
5. Dreaming-I save this one for last because it is my favorite. Dreaming is so vital to life. I mean, dreams are not only fun but God given. Our deepest dreams are often God inspired. He places dreams in our hearts and then leads us to fulfill and live them. It's so wonderful! So, I was browsing a friends blog and I noticed that she had something called a "Smash Journal." It looked totally cool and I really wanted to buy one. However, it was more than I could afford. So fast forward one year and I am in Marshall's. I am browsing and lo and behold I see a "Smash Journal" and it was 4 times less and 2 times bigger than the one I wanted.
I have been writing down my dreams and goals for this year and beyond and it looks a little like this:
It is a pretty large book to fill and I really excited to see what things I will do this year and beyond. :)
